Diploma In Optometry

 

Optometry includes eye and related structures and vision, visual systems, & vision information processing in humans. Optometrists are primary health care providers.

Diploma in Optometry course gives the knowledge of basic biomedical, behavioural and clinical sciences, primarily related to vision and the eye. The course applicants are familiar with inspection and analysis of various refractive conditions and oversee optical guides, for instance, optical glasses, contact lenses, and other remedial guides.

Candidates can work with vision care hospitals as a part of a team with ophthalmologists and optometrists and contribute towards preventing blindness.

Diploma in Optometry is a Diploma Level Optometric course. It covers psychology, patient management, and optometric retail management.

Eligibility Criteria

The basic eligibility criteria for pursuing a Diploma in Optometry is qualifying 10+2 or equivalent examination in Science stream with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics from a recognized board of the country.

Admission Procedure

Admission is based on marks scored by candidates in the board examination. The minimum aggregate mark required is 45%.
Duration: 2 Years.

Optometrists may practice alone, collaborate with other eye specialists, or teach. An optometrist can:

Manage their eye clinic, optical shop, lens manufacturing unit

Teach optometry

Help detect diseases or fit contact lenses/Low Vision Aids

Assist in vision screen at schools and industries

Provide optometric counselling to patients with partial sight and hereditary vision defects.
