M.A. (Master of Arts)
MA stands for Master of Arts, and it is a postgraduate degree available to those who have completed their bachelor's degree (also known as, undergraduate degree). Various colleges and universities in India and overseas offer a degree in a variety of specializations. The humanities and social sciences are the most popular fields of study at the graduate level.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
MA is a specialized program that provides students with an in-depth understanding of the topic they have chosen. The following are the requirements for admission to an MA program:
- Holders of a bachelor's degree (ideally in the arts) with a minimum 3- or 4-year duration (10+2+3 or 10+2+4). The degree must come from an Indian university approved by the UGC (University Grants Commission).
- At the graduate level, a minimum of 55 percent aggregate is required.
- Candidates seeking a three-year degree program must pass all topics from the first to the fourth semester, while four-year degree candidates must pass all topics from the first to the sixth semester.
